As we grow closer to God we naturally desire to use the gifts He gave us in service to others - it's also a great way to meet new people and form close relationships with them. At GoodNaz we have a lot going on, so there's a LOT of different ways that you can get involved. If you have a special gift or passion that doesn't fit into any of the opportunities below, contact Gary Hofmann at 615-859-2555, 615-330-8357 or via email.
Greeters
Contact: Hulon Sanders & Marcia Steiner, 859.2555
Greeting people in a warm way makes them feel good about their presence at GoodNaz. If you'd like to be one of the first people to meet newcomers, help them to feel welcome and ensure that they know where to go and all their questions have been answered, being a greeter might be the things for you. The Greeter's mission is to enthusiastically welcome each participant (first time or not), ensure that they are educated and prepared, orient them, answer their questions, and set the tone for their experience at GoodNaz.
Ushers
Contact: Hulon Sanders & Marcia Steiner, 859.2555 If you like to meet new people, make them feel welcome and help them, this could be the place for you. One of the main responsibilities of an usher is to speak to individuals entering the service late and help them to find a place to sit, while being sensitive to the fact that they may be uncomfortable in a church service and self-conscious about being late. You'll want to refrain from sitting people during prayers, scripture readings, and during some special music presentations. Until an appropriate time, have them stand quietly at the back until they can be seated without distraction.
Chair Set-Up
Contact: Philip Smith, 859.2555
Each week hundreds of chairs need taken down and set back-up, sometimes multiple time per week! If you'd be willing to assist on a rotating basis, let us know.
Decorating Committee
Contact: Michele Gocking, 859.2555 or michele@goodnaz.org
If decorating and hospitality are a gift and passion of yours, then take this opportunity to get involved by setting the ambiance for various church events, holidays and special occassions. Members of this committee should be resourceful and creative in their ideas.
Class Leaaders, Adult
Adult: Philip Smith, 859.2555 or phil@goodnaz.org
If you have a gift for leading discussions, or explaining concepts in a new and fresh way we'd love to give you the opportunity to lead one of our adult classes. We have several different classes every Sunday with a few that have a rotating schedule of leaders.
Class Leaders, Child Child: Shelley Oliver, 859.2555 or kids@goodnaz.org
Preschool: Emily Young, 859.2555 or preschool@goodnaz.org
If you love children and want to influence their lives, working in the children's department on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights may be the perfect place for you! If you're most interested in loving young children and being a reflection of God's love to them, then our preschool department (Waumba World) is probably the best fit for you. You can work with the same group of kids every Wednesday evening, serve on a rotating schedule for Sunday mornings, or serve on an "on-call" list for last minute cancellations. Chances are that you've never served in a pre-school department that is so easy! Each week Miss Emily provides you with an age appropriate lesson plan, activities, teaching tools and VERY easy to follow schedule for each week. You'll first spend a little time together with the kids learning the weeks bible verse and story. Then you'll go to Tree House where the kids will have a great time in Preschool Praise & Worship. After which you'll go back to your classrooms and finish up with the week's lesson. However, the most important thng that happens any week in the preschool department is that the kids are loved!
If you're more interested in teaching a lesson plan to older children, then our children's department (grades 1-5) could by the right fit for you. Each week during Sunday School, Pastor Shelley provides you with age appropriate lesson plans for your class. After each week's lesson you dismiss the children to Extreme 2:52, a praise and worship service that is all for the kids.
