This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 1 John 4:9
Love is the essence of who God is. From the beginning of Genesis to the ending of the story to come, God’s love for humanity has been the focus of His relational chase of us. We see plenty of evidence of God’s love for us throughout the pages of the Bible, starting with the Christmas Story. God loved us so much that He sent His Son and then ultimately His love for us cost the life of His Son…just so that we might experience true joy of what it really means to be loved! Because God chose to save us we know that He will continue to love us whether we are a huge success or struggle with setbacks. How wonderful it is to know and get comfort from this verse whenever we begin to doubt God’s love.
During this season may we extend God’s love to one another. We are daily reminders and examples to a world that needs His love. In a world full of hate, condemnation and self-centeredness we can freely give love just as He has done for us! Let the story they see in us be the one of love!
Prayer: Help us to remember and believe in your constant and unchanging love. Remind us that we do not earn your love, but you give it as a free gift. Help us to love others with the same acceptance you have given us!
